Hello, Good Doctor.

 

I was recently travelling to the Quad Cities in Iowa and I came across a theater which did not appear in your database. It is called "Venus Adult Video" and is located on 902 West 3rd Street, Davenport IA.

Now this is not a theater in any grand sense, as it is functionally incomparable to Westwood or the Art Cinema, but more of a "we had a second floor so we may was well slap together something" sort of place. It's not a place I would go to often had I the opportunity but working on the assumption that you are trying to maintain a canonical list of adult theaters I figured you might want to know about it.

 

The Physical Space:

The following describes what the $6 entry fee gets you and the entry fee is good for the day as long as you keep your receipt. To get to the theater you walk up a staircase that has a bit of a slant to it, this is your first indication of the quality of the place. When you reach the top of the stairs there is a private room directly in front of you and a small main viewing area with about 25 typical theater seats directly to the right.  There is a large screen TV showing a straight film and a smaller one above it showing gay film however the sound for the main screen comes out from behind the TV so it is annoyingly muted. To the left of the main TV is an entryway which leads to three rooms situated behind the main TV. At the back of the main theater is a hallway leading to an open water closet and another private room.

There are a total of 5 smaller rooms throughout the theater, each with their own two-channel TV screen (straight or gay), theater seats, and locking door. Cleanliness is lacking - short of sitting on a seat I tried not to touch much of anything. There is a toilet, but I would be worried about splash-back if you know what I mean. There were no couches or overstuffed furniture you might find for the comfort of those who enjoy this thing we do. As stated earlier - it really has a thrown together feel to it. 

The People:

When I arrived there were two other men there milling about. Over the next two hours more and more men arrived and eventually two of them disappeared into on of the rooms and from the sound of it they were not discussing politics. I went outside to have a smoke and when I can back in I stopped by the desk and talked to the clerk. He said that it is mostly a older, gay crowd but that women do come in from time to time (unfortunately it was not one of those times when I was there.) Typically there are 5-10 people in the theater and sometimes up to about 20. I thanked him for the info and went back to the theater to hopefully await someone of a more feminine physique but that wait was in vain.

I wish the place was nicer so that I could be more enthusiastic, eloquent, and verbose about it but nothing about it excited me. Simply put, I noticed that it wasn't registered in the database and wanted to give you the details in case you wanted them.
